There isn't much difference between regular hosting and WordPress specific hosting. A general web hosting is a bare-bones hosting provider where access to tools will be limited. However most WordPress hosting are advertised as 'optimized' for WordPress though this has little effect on the actual performance. The real benefits are in the security practices and measures and is really useful for production sites that cannot afford any down time.

Web Hosting stand for shared hosting you can host any normal / basic website. but WordPress Hosting packages are specially configured for WordPress websites. in WordPress Hosting you can run you wordpress website or blog easily there will be more security layers and wordpress related features like auto back of wordpress website , auto installer etc. you no need to contact server admin for all the small small hosting permission.

Wordpress is available in two forms, one is self hosted and available at wordpress.com . Another is wordpress cms available for download at wordpress.org You can host this wordpress cms at any web hosting provider.

Self hosted wordpress is suitable for experimental / demo / portfolio / blogging sites. Its not suitable for professional or commercial websites.

For commercial or professional website you need a wordpress cms and web hosting package to host your website. You can create fully functional professional looking website using wordpress cms.

If you are planning to host high traffic website, you need a reliable web hosting provider who offers good bandwidth, disk space etc.

I am suggesting you a most reliable web hosting provider http://www.webstation7.com who offers unlimited bandwidth, unlimited websites hosting, unlimited disk space, 99.9% uptime guarantee, 24x7 support etc with their deluxe web hosting package starting from just $8.99 / month.

They also offers value added services like website builder, ecommerce solutions, secure ssl certificates, spam free emails etc you may find useful for your commercial websites.

A web hosting service provider is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or webpage to be viewed on the Internet. Managed WordPress hosting is a concierge service where all technical aspects of running WordPress is managed by the host. This includes security, speed, WordPress updates, daily backups, website uptime, and scalability.

Hi,
I have some little bit knowledge on this which I have shared below.

WordPress hosting will benefit you most if you have a WordPress website. As a WordPress hosting is optimized for a WP website, it would significantly improve the performance of your website. Your website may not encounter any issues and will run smoothly. You can also choose a managed services wherein entire technical glitches will be looked after by your web host.

On the other hand, a general web hosting is not specialized in WordPress hosting and can support any type of website. So the performance of your WordPress website can be deteriorated if hosted on a general web hosting.
If you searching for web hosting service then Hostbuddy.com is one of the best hosting service providers.

Thank you

On Shared WordPress Hosting, a website shares the resources with other sites on the same server. The server is also built out to support a variety of web applications, including WordPress, but also Drupal, phpBB, and pretty much any other tool you can think up. In order to support all those programs, the server is built out in a generic way that supports them all equally well, but not one significantly better than another. At the same time, this allows you to integrate WordPress with other, non-WordPress tools, like MediaWiki or ZenPhoto Gallery.

Managed WordPress Hosting is built completely with WordPress in mind. From the ground up, the server was designed for WordPress, customized to handle practically any configuration of WordPress installed. The catch there is it’s only customized for WordPress.

While WordPress and the majority of plugins run perfectly, attempting to add in non-WordPress tools will result in unexpected outcomes. At best, the use is unsupported. At the worst, they may not work at all.

WordPress hosting has the following advantages over general hosting.

1. Better Speed

WordPress hosting is optimized for WordPress sites so we see a significant increase in the speed of our websites. We have to put less effort into optimizing our website since most of the work is already done for us.

2. Security

WordPress is an extremely secure CMS and it’s extremely hard to hack it. WordPress hosting provides some extra layers of security to its users by providing automated backups, plugins for security, etc.

3. Support

Most of the companies providing WordPress hosting invest in WordPress specialists to deal with customer queries related to this CMS.

4. Upgrade and Maintenance

WordPress hosting provides an auto theme and plugin upgrades as well as some basic maintenance for your WordPress site, which you would otherwise have to do yourself. They backup your WordPress data to an offsite location and make it easier for you to retrieve that data when needed.

5. Convenience

You don’t need to bother about security, speed, and maintenance of your site. Isn’t that convenient?

6. Handle More Visitors

When using a WordPress site you don’t have to worry about the CPU resources your site is using or any other similar constraint. You also don’t have to worry about a sudden increase in traffic. Most of WordPress hosting providers allow you to have a specified amount of visitors every month, no matter if they all arrive all at once or one by one.

7. Value-Added Tools

WordPress hosting providers always have some value added tools to offer to their customers. They could offer you a free subscription to some premium service, premium plugins for free, or something similar to add value to their service.

General shared hosting is configured to cater to the needs of all kinds of users. People who host simple HTML sites, Joomla sites, custom PHP scripts, ruby scripts, etc., on shared hosts. So hosting providers adjust their settings in order to provide a balance to all kind of users.

But WordPress hosting is configured to serve only WordPress site owners. So what’s the actual difference between general hosting and WordPress hosting? Actually, WordPress hosting has the following advantages over general hosting.

Is speed important? Obviously, it's extremely important, which is a topic I have already covered in my article, Benefits of Faster Website Page Load in 2017, Is It Really Worth It?

2. Security

WordPress is an extremely secure CMS and it’s extremely hard to hack it. Did you just read extremely hard? Yes, it's extremely hard, but not impossible. Hackers can still find a way to get into a WordPress site through outdated plugins, themes, and some of the malfunctioned plugins. WordPress hosting provides some extra layers of security to its users by providing automated backups, plugins for security, etc.

3. Support

Most of the companies providing WordPress hosting invest in WordPress specialists to deal with customer queries related to this CMS. These tech guys can help resolve your WordPress problems much more effectively than a general tech guy.

4. Upgrade and Maintenance

Most of WordPress hosting providers allow you to have a specified amount of visitors every month, no matter if they all arrive all at once or one by one. On the other hand, you may get your hosting account suspended if a large wave of visitors hits your website all at once.
7. Value-Added Tools

WordPress hosting providers always have some value added tools to offer to their customers. They could offer you a free subscription to some premium service, premium plugins for free, or something similar to add value to their service.

Shared hosting is, by its very nature, the cheapest means of hosting a website. It caters to the most common needs of a huge variety of websites for a very low price — whether they’re powered by WordPress or not.

Managed WordPress hosting, on the other hand, caters to a very specific market by offering both highly-tuned, WordPress-optimized servers and a number of advanced services.

This means — in essence — that managed WordPress hosting is a technically superior form of hosting in almost every way.

Here is a snippet that shows the main types of web hosting available so that you can make an informed choice about which is best for you
