Someone has stolen our tax id

We are a non profit corporation in florida and a former member has lied to the irs about his claim on the name of the company. Worse than that, he somehow convinced them and they changed the name of the company. They have also stolen our ein number as well. We have written several letters to the irs and they refuse to provide us with information because it involves another entity. What can we do? We can't afford a lawyer and the donation checks that we just recived have their company name on them.
