I am having trouble setting up my audio connection.?

Hi audio video specialist, I just bought a brand new 50" Sony smart 3D HDTV (Model: KDL-50W800B) and connected from optical output to Marantz Sr5200 Home Cinema Receiver optical input. It’s doesn’t have any sound form my speakers. It’s the AV receiver too old and not compatible to the new HDTV? What do you recommend I try?
