My Acer Aspire seems dead?

I have an Acer Aspire 5349, and it just died completely. I had been getting many notifications on the laptop that the battery needed to be replaced. Also, the battery seemed to only last 30 minutes without being plugged in. When I tried to turn it on this morning, it seemed dead. It made no noise when I pressed the on button, and the power light never turned on. Though, when I plugged it up to its charger, the battery light came on, first turning orange then blue. When I would press the on button, that light would go off for a short time too. Does this sound like just a battery problem that can be fixed by replacing the battery? Or is it fried?

Juding by the information you've given it sounds as thought it's a battery problem, not fried. :)
