fossil fuels coal oil and natural gas may be up to 5% sulfur this is released in the form of SO2 and SO3 when these fuels are burned SO3 is a major component of acid rain H2O+SO3=H2SO4 If 300 million tons of So3 are released each year into the atmosphere from fossil fuels how many grams of sulfuric acid are formed
