Differentiate between minimum and national minimum wage.

Hi! I want to know the difference between a minimum and a national minimum wage. Why the government fix such wages?

National I think right now is $7.17, and its there so at a state level employers cant oppress or overwork employees, minimum wage varies by state and they make it a fixed amount that way employers cant take advantage of people needing jobs and overwork/under pay them

It's kind of like the National rule is to keep the state law in line right? So the National law is going to say you cant get under this. If you do, you're in trouble. The state wage is the wage set by the common wealth. No one federal is in it
