Is there a USB ready OS other than Slax?

So, I want to put an OS on my USB to give life back to an old laptop I own instead of it sitting their collecting dust.

I have used Slax and it is what I'm looking for but I'm having problems with it that can be solved but I want to know of any other OS that are like Slax by being made for USB use on 32-bit.

I don't want Ubuntu or related OS because I don't want a Live-USB nor do I want to install it, I just want to use my USB and be able to save to it also using available space.
