Is masturbation a sin?

I'm a christian and I was wondering if masturbating is a sin?

Unfortunately the only people available to answer this question are all human and subject to the many frailties of human thinking but here's my logic:

If you believe that God created us then our urges came with the package. If it's OK to eat when you're hungry, drink when you're thirsty and scratch when you itch, why wouldn't be OK to whack when you're horny? :-)
