What is marketing orientation

i have to evaluate the benefits and cost of a marketing oriention

Using input from customers to determine what products, features and services a business will offer rather than basing it on what the business management thinks the market wants. The benefits are products that are more useful to the customers and a better bond with them. The costs depend on how far the business is willing to go to make it work. For example, the business could mail surveys to their customers or they could send representatives to visit them. Those costs would be very different.
