I found an unsigned check stapled to it's receipt, should it be returned?

Found along the road, unsigned, stapled to it's receipt. Should it be returned to address on the check, or is it of no value or importance?

You can just destroy it. But if you mail it to the address on the check, that person can have the peace of mind knowing someone else doesn't have it. Or you could drop it off at any branch of the person's bank if that's convenient.

Although it has no cash value without a valid signature, an identity thief might be able to have fun with it.
