I was hit by a car in a cross walk.is it worth it to sue?

my friend and I were walking legally across a cross walk when a speeding guy hit us both at about 40 mph...i hit the windshield, flew 6 feet and rolled (or so im told, I was unconscious), and my friend fractured her leg. I got a concussion adn my arm is in a sling for swelling. I am also missing about 2 and a half weeks of work. the driver is only getting 4 points off his license and an negligent driving with bodily injury charge. I am not sure what is insurance is, or how much his insurance will offer as settlement. is it worth it to sue?
