Okay how do you think I can stop this help

So today my lil cuz came back from school and I am visiting for a couple months ( she's still at the public school she has to wait till the year ends and the new one begins to go to the private school) so she came back and she said the people who used to be her friends are smoking! Not cigs (thank god) but you know those yellow straws they use in Kool aid hammers and Capri sun yea they use those she said they saw them with a lighter they lit the straw and exhaled it and exhaled it I was so shocked I mean smoking plastic straws? She said they invited her to join but she said no so I was wondering how can I stop this (aperentally smoking straws is the brand new thing kids do Becuase they can't buy siggs) so I want to show people my cuz told the principle but the principle said that's insane and didn't belive her so should I recorded them smoking or have a talk with the school principle just help I mean smoking plastic straws man that's just creepy so how can I stop this kids now know everything from sex to drugs and other things also she's in 5th grade :0 so help! (Also what effects can smoking plastic straws have on a child?

Okay so, I have heard of leaves, paper, and grass, but straws? That's a new one. I honestly think that this is soo stupid. not your question or your concern, but the fact that they are taking this so seriously. It can have NO AFFECT!!! Yes, in large amount plastic can release chemicals that can be toxic, but not a straw. I don't think you should worry about this at all, it won't harm them, and they can't get addicted. The reason they were so desperate to get straws from the garbage is probably because they all want to seem cool. Trust me, The kids in my 5th grade did a lot of stupid stuff, MUCH worse than "smoking" plastic straws. Lets see, there were some kids who removes gunpowder from bottle rockets put it in prescription medicine bottles and sold it to teenagers, when I was in 5th grade. Trust me, they are in no danger. If your cousin doesn't want to do it, just tell her to say no. Kids at that age are very influenceable, this whole smoking straws will be over in a few weeks, and they will be on to a stupider thing.
