Party name is incorrect on my lease agreement. How do I rectify it

My client is a company who has entered into a lease. However the lease is on the name of the MD and the companys name does not appear on the lease agreement.
Now the client company is being taken over. The registrar reffuses to accept a rectification deed. So the MD has to pay the stamp duty on hte transfer. Is there any other alternative to this issue
