My niece crys weird?

Okay so I'm taking care of my niece but she crys wired she cries with a panting sound kinda do I take her to the doctor? Help its like this she crys for 15 seconds then starts panting then a bother cry and it goes on help :(

She's a newborn, right? Immediately bring this to her mother's or your mother's attention. Let them decide what to do. If neither of them can be reached and you think her life is in danger call 911.

Normally babies cry when they are tired, hungry, thirsty, their diaper needs changing or they have gas. If you are sure it none of the above is the problem, you should call the child's mother and tell her what's going on and let her make the assessment of what to do.

I had a friend in school that did this. She grew out of it by third or fourth grade.
