Why can't I get a girlfriend? I use to have lots now since joining the service I've had no luck.

I don't think I'm ugly but I have no luck with girls. Idk if its my confidence. I joined the military and now it seems like no girls wanna talk to me from back home. I finally had the courage to ask a girl for her number and she asked for mine instead. Later that night she asked me if I wanted to out on a Sunday night I told her no cause of work the next day. So I asked for a weather check. That day came and she stood me up. She didn't text or call me that day. Days went by and I kept texting her and with no reply. Finally I asked if I should leave her alone and she said "no". Wtf is she messing with me or playing games? Please help.

I lied about my age and joined the military at a very young age. When you leave your home, you take with you the mental image of the way it was when you left. You picture all of your old friends in the same place doing the things they did when you were there. Some of the girls I knew would write to me but it was more like an obligation than the way it was before and that gradually dwindled off to zero. They had made a new life for themselves just like I had. My first trip back home was two years later and I felt like I was in a strange town where I didn't know anybody.

You have to understand that, while your life is changing, so is theirs. The answer to your question is, don't try to hold on to the past. Make friends and live your life wherever you are. If you are in a war zone, don't let that discourage you. It will always get better than where you are, you just have to wait until you make it to a more civil location. It's not your confidence, it's just your situation. Hang in there and it will get better.
