What to do about wisdom teeth?

So, my wisdom teeth have been growing in for the past few years now and starting this Monday (4/25/13) the wisdom tooth on the bottom left has been aching in a pain that none of the other wisdom teeth have. This is my last wisdom tooth growing in, if that is of any significance. I've heard that because it hurts as it's growing in, that that means I definitely have to get them taken out. Only problem is, I don't want my mom to have to pay all that money for pulling my wisdom teeth when she's yet to do it herself. I most definitely want her to get hers pulled before mine because she needs it way more than I do.
What I'm asking: What can I do to make the pain go away until my mom gets hers taken out (and then eventually mine), is it usually expensive to get wisdom teeth removed, and what to do once I've gotten them taken out.

Thank you so much for the help!

I think it's very sweet that you want to prioritize your mother's dental care over yours, but figuring out who goes first is the parent's responsibility, not the kid's. Be honest with your mother about your pain and let her make the decision.

The last time I had a tooth ache, my pharmacist told me that taking pain killers is more effective than topical numbing ointments. Your mother can tell you what pain killers you can take, how many, and how often. If she isn't sure, she can ask a pharmacist for free.

Depending on where you live, there may be public resources for dental care. She can check with social services or look for local organizations that help out with dental care.
