IPod touch 4g question

I have an iPod touch 4g, I've had it for about 2 years. It's worked perfectly fine until just recently when I lost it for about a month. It died during that time. When I found it, it looked fine. It was just under my bed. I charged it all the way & when I tried to use it, it was really slow. Like when I unlocked it or tried to play a song. Like if I were to press "albums" or "songs", it would be slow to go to it or of have to press it a numerous amount of times. What happened? How can I make it faster? I already tried turning it off and on

The iPod 4g has an A4 processor with very low ram as time passes by the device slowly wears out and that causes the processor to become a bit slow but by jailbreaking the device one can get an app called accelerate which speeds up the device.
