How do you teach your cat to walk on a leash?

I have tried it before, and it doesn't really work. He is a very playful cat, and LOVES to play fetch. How do I teach him to walk on a leash?

Cats are very independant animals. They hate being on a leash unlike dogs who put up with it. Why do you want to put him on leash? To take him outside for walks? I wouldn't recommend you put him on a leash if he doesn't like it.

You can't really teach a cat how to walk on a leash but you can put him on a leash and just let him wander around in your backyard or something.
