In 1989 I retired, this was 10 years prior to my time .For the purpose to care for my mother who suffered from Alzheimer. In 2006 the HMR. contacted me asking why early retirement, I explained the reason and with giving all proof documentations etc; I was awarded HOME RESPONSIBILITIES PROTECTION for a period of 2.1/2 years and told to contact my local pension office. On doing so I was told I did not qualify as I only paid a married woman's stamp. For the first 6 years of my working career I paid a full stamp. The next 14 years from 1965 --1979 I was a house wife. From 1979--1989 I worked for the NHS. Surely I could have claimed carers allowance for the duration of caring and still received a state pension on my husbands full contributions.
