F1 Visa Interview

I have received teaching assistantship and full tuition waiver for my graduate study (PhD in physics) in USA. Do I still have to show financial proof to the US embassy during my visa interview. If yes then what amount would be appropriate!
I had applied for DV lottery in 2009. Does this can have any negative impact on my profile during interview? How should I reply to this question?

honesty is always the best policy with officers. they will give you a chance to explain your situation.
Amount of finances - amount that would pay for at least a year of your tuition expressed in your I-20
