Practical choice or go for my dreams?

I am in my late 20s. All my life I have always taken the practical route for the most part. I have been working for four years at a good job. If I stay for one more year I will likely be able to have my student loans forgiven. This would set me free to branch out into other types of work next year. Only problem: I will be 29 next year and I feel like I want to enjoy myself now! I was engaged until I recently found out my fiancee was up to no good. I want to break free, move someplace warm and take a chance on finding love and maybe another job that ay qualify me for student loan forgiveness.

What should I do? Take the practical route and stay at my job: which I do really like..but be forced to live alone in a cold climate in a small boring town for another year. Or take a risk and move this summer. PS: I'm a little afraid to let people at work down also....

They aren't mutually exclusive. DO BOTH!!!

If you have an opportunity to get your loans paid off, STAY!!! You'll be much freer to pursue your dreams if you don't have to make a monthly student loan payment for years on end.

Use that year as a fun time to explore yourself, and make new plans for your future. Learn more about your dream. Figure out what you need to do to follow it in the most successful way. Research places to live. Visit cities that interest you. Save for your move.

Assuming all else is equal, an emerging artist who is debt-free, and has savings and a business plan is much more likely to be successful than an emerging artist who can't rent a studio because they're paying off loans, and can't invest in supplies because they have no savings. Think about it.

That year can be an exciting time of discovery and dreaming if you allow it.

As someone who has taken the practical route and failed and taken injury because of it, I would advise you to follow your dreams. Only they hold the key to our freedom otherwise we stay stuck in the same cycle. Great question by the way.
