i changed the batteries in thermostat when I turned it back on it did't do anything but hum no heat is coming out

How to restart the furnce after you change the batteries in the thermostate
If it's humming that sounds like it's not wired right. Normally thermostats get their control voltage from the unit. I'd have a HVAC guy look at it.
