I had a friend once who was a wedding planner. She worked constantly. Not only did she have to be available to a panicky, demanding bride, but she had to maintain relationships with all the vendors; network all the time with photographers, bakers, caterers, venue managers, etc; set up booths at expensive bridal shows to get new brides; give workshops to attract brides; pay for advertising and marketing, etc... It's very hard work, and more often than not, the bride is going to lose her mind at least 2-3 times. It was crazy, and all-consuming, and hectic, and stressful. She loved it! She also planned corporate and other events to keep her calendar full, and that required more networking and marketing, too.

There's a steep learning curve because there are so many things you have to be responsible for, and you need to incorporate and hire an attorney to write contracts for you so you can limit your liability. The last thing you want to do is plan an expensive wedding and get left paying the bill because the bride says you ruined her special day. You're going to have to study everything about the business that you don't already know, and you constantly have to stay on top of new trends, so the studying never ends.

You can become popular is you are good at it, and you pay for high-quality website/ads/marketing to make sure you get lots of exposure.

You could really enjoy it if you're good at it and it's a good fit for you, but make no mistake, it is not an easy job.
