What if students ask others to help them to write university application?

I sent my application to a very good university yesterday; however, after I submit it, the website told me that I must finish this application by myself. Unfortunately, I asked my mother to help me to check my application. He thought this is so important so he helped me to change nearly everything. I thought the ideas are from my mind, so I submitted it.

I want to send a email to that university and tell them the application was not finished by myself. But I am so scared. I know my mother; she will yell at me and disagree with my decision, absolutely.

I don't want to cheat, but I scared my mother a lot. I am a new immigrant, so I don't know I can't ask others to help me to check my application.

is that a very serious problem? Should I send an email to university so as to explain everything?

Talk to your guidance counselor about this. Or call the university admissions office to speak to an admissions counselor. Say you'd like to get some anonymous advice about your application, then explain the situation.
