What would you do if your best friend spit on your girlfriend?

My girlfriends friend is my best friends wife. About 6 months prior she went to the hospital for a night. My best friend asked her to come, she said she couldn't. He called her and I bad friends. I was upset, I told my girlfriend what he said, and she left him a message telling him he better not call either of us bad friends ever again. He called it a threat and said she was wrong because she left this message when his wife was not doing good. He feels what she said and when she said it is worse than him calling her an awful name and spitting on her. He held a grudge which led to the spitting incident after an argument with his wife and then my girlfriend. Does this change anyones answer?
