Which is better? Yorkie or Maltese or Maltipoo?

I am trying to decide which puppy I would like to adopt.
I have read that Yorkies seem to bark more and since I do live in an apt, that is not ideal. I also read that Yorkies are more standoffish to strangers. I have a lot of friends that like to come in and out of my apt daily so I would not want a puppy who would bark at them every time they enter.

Basically, the key thing I would like is a dog that is friendly with my friends and smart enough to pick up on commands and training quite fast. Please help!!

My family has 3 Yorkies. They are friendly to everyone. They used to bark a TON, but that significantly lessened when we had a trainer work with them. Now they just park when when we come home or a visitor comes. They bark a lot louder than you'd think would be possible for little doggies their size. Their noise isn't a problem for me since our kids mostly take care of them, and we live in a house on acreage so there aren't neighbors to bother.

One of my cousins have two Yorkies and they bark ALL THE TIME for no good reason at all. I spent a few nights at her house, and every time I left the guest room to go to the bathroom of get a glass of water, the grumpiest one barked like I was an intruder. Drove me crazy. I was afraid to move after 10pm because I didn't want to wake the entire house.

All dogs bark... but I think the degree depends on the individual dog and the owner. Her dogs do things mine know not to do (like mark chair legs, get on the furniture, and beg while we're eating at the table).

I have no experience with the other breeds. ... Cats seem to do better in apartments... and they don't need a safe place to go for a walk at 2am.

I have had the pleasure of owning a Shih Zhu for the last 10 years. They are a bit smaller than a Maltese and super easy going sweet dogs. She has leaky eyes but I give her distilled water and it seems to clear them up. I keep her hair short. But, if you have a lot of patience it grows long and is beautiful. However, it would requires daily maintenance. I also have a German Shepherd and he treats her like a princess. Everyone should own GSD they are wonderful loyal protectors. Gobble Gobble

If you have not adopted one yet.

I have 3 Maltese Poodles and live in a flat. They don't bark and learn very quickly. It is said Poodles are the 2nd most intelligent breed, the Maltipoo should therefore be the most intelligent. They also don't shed.
