Laptop brand?

I’m about to begin college and I need an affordable laptop, long-lasting being my biggest concern. I’ll mostly be using it for document processing, and some internet research, ext. I was hoping to pay 3 or 4, maybe 5 hundred dollars for one, but I have no idea what brand to get ._.
So what brand would you recommend? :/

It is hard to tell the best, each type has its perfection,,,in general for me I had 5 types
Hp and Toshiba the difference was related to what cor I it was (7 was perfect),,I preferred the Toshiba as a Japanese one was easier in the touch and for office use..
Dell was good for the general use outside the home and that its strong..
Alienware was strong in use, but the type I had was heavy so I heat that type.
Fujitsu not that good it needs gentle use not a public,,,
but now I buy the types which I can change its parts (memory card, hard...) as I need, and so I prefer to have Hp its more liable to that changes...

4u I think buy the type after having some ideas about the speed, memory, size, the processor,,,I'll tell u to buy dell if u r a student and anyway
with time any type u buy must be change to a level up type coz. no way it'll be of the same benefit and strength 1 year later,,,
u can have a little pictured ideas in that web. http://laptops.techcrunch.com
and to have more details go on search for the type u prefer in other websites,,
I can't know what u may like and the real need in using just general is not helpful,, so give it a test,,,
G.luck^^
