I am 31. 2 yrs ago I started having tightening in the skin & swelling from my knees down to my feet. My hand came a few weeks later. I started having unbearable pain in my joint & just all my arms and legs, feet and hands. I was put on prednisone & later methotraxate. I was tested for RA which was negative. I got off the methotrexate after about 1 yr. I was on the prednisone for about 2 yrs. I got off because it felt like they were both killing me slowly. I have had several x-rays & after over 2 years there is no damage. I have tried a naturalist. I am only getting worse. My skin is extremely tight from my knees down & I am extremely swollen all the time from knees down. My hands are a bit swollen. I am always in pain especially at night. I wake all the time in pain & have to always move due to the pain. When I get up I am in a lot of pain. I can not close my hands in the morning & by the end of the day I can almost close them to make a fist. I am at a loss, I don't know what to do. Can anyone help?

I have had a lot of tests and everything comes up negative. RA, Lupus, and every other possible test has been done all negative. I am really healthy. Healthy heart and kidneys.

Your doctors have to realize that a person's extremities don't just swell up for no apparent reason. What have the doctors told you?

They are saying based on the symptoms it is closest to RA and so that's how they are treating it. Even though they stated themselves that based on my x-rays nothing has changed on over two years and with RA it would show something.

I actually suggested gluten allergy because I was talking to a friend last night who was telling me she thought she had arthritis for years, but when she stopped eating gluten the pain went away. She stopped her meds with her doctor's blessing and has been pain-free since.
