I am divoring my husband of almost 20yrs we have a 18 yr old son still in high school I am on ssi so

My husband and I are getting divorced after a marriage of almost twenty years. I am disabled and on ssi our son is also on ssi he is asthmatic and had two knee surgerires. my husband was paying very little in child support because he was on unemployment. so now my husband is getting ssdi. so I went back to court and asked for an increase in child support and for spousal support. and the court mediator told me that I could'nt get either. she if anything that I would get a decrease. So why did a pro-bono attorney tell me to file for these things only for the mediator to shoot me and my son down. Fed up!!!!

An attorney can advise you to try something but he/she never knows how a court or mediator will rule. If they turned you down, they have to provide you with a reason. Why not post the reason you were turned down with your questions?

The court mediator never gave me a reason verbally or in writing. But I was told by a para leagal. A few days later that my husband is recieving benefits from ssdi for me our son and his diasabled daughter from another marriage. which he signed over his legal rights to when she was five years old. And her parents who have taken care her all of her life and will have to continue to take care her because she has the mentality of a five year old. And I know for a fact that the parents of his daughter don
t know that my husband is collecting all of this money on ssdi. because we live in one city and they live in another and he hasn't spoken to his daughter since she was five. He is living high on the hog with my neighbor across the street. Yes you read me right! What a loser is he I may not have won in court but I'm still a better human being than my soon to be x spouse!
If he is illegally collecting benefits he's not entitled to get you can contact the toll-free Social Security Administration Fraud Hotline at (800) 269-0271.
