Ipod-aux problem

So, I have beats by dre, and about 6 of the cables to connect the headphones to the iPod, however, one side (the L side) of the headphones, whenever I plug it into the iPod, it pauses the iPod while playing. I thought maybe because I have dropped it (although it is an iPod classic, maybe it was broken) However, when I plugged the other side in, it works fine. Anyone know why? Or how to fix it?

It isnt the particular cable either, it happens with EVERY cable I have
