I want to throw a party for my 6yr old son but I don't want to call it a birthday party any ideas

I want to have a party for my 6 year old son but I do not want to call it a birthday party. I am looking for suggestions for other names I can call the party

Curious, why not?

If there is a theme then you can fit it in with that. For example, if you are choosing to have a race car party then call it that. Farmyard party, football party, water party, swimming party, the list goes on.

I hope that helps. It is definitely easier to pick a theme and then center the party around that.

I find myself in a similar weird position because my husband and I don't recognize birthdays, but our kids never had nice birthdays until we adopted them.

If you are friends with other parents with similar wishes, maybe you could throw a group party? Theme parties are a good idea, I think.

You could also plan something more like a charity fundraiser. You could pick an organization to benefit. Instead of birthday gifts, guests could bring/make donations in your son's name. Then you could throw a party to celebrate what you raised and thank everyone for their participation.
