Is being gay a disease psychologist

i read about being homosexsuel for women and men is a "mental disorder" !
"Dr. Robert L. Spitzer was the psychiatrist who led the charge to remove homosexuality as a disorder from the psychiatric manual in 1973. Spitzer is a self identified secular humanist atheist Jew who has been consistent in his support of gay rights. Briefly, Spitzer conducted a study of 200 people who reported that they had changed from homosexual to heterosexual. Spitzer found that 66% of the men and 44% of the women who had participated in therapy to change their homosexual orientation had arrived at what he called 'good heterosexual functioning.' Additionally, 89% of the men and 95% of the women reported that they were bothered slightly or not at all, by unwanted homosexual feelings.
elso I read in this site : http://www.dream-link.org/spiritualthings/homosexual.html
(Mental Illnesses and disorders affect millions. According to NAMI 1 out of every 5 people have a diagnosable mental disorder. In a life time half of everyone will have a diagnosable mental disorder. There are physical conditions, mental abuse, and genetic anomilies that can cause mental disorders. People with mental disorders are frequently unaware of their condition. Some of them feel compelled to find others like themselves, this causes them to feel accepted. Feeling accepted empowers their disorder to control their minds. It tells them nothing is wrong, in essence is rewarding bad thinking and bad habits. People who abuse themselves via bad thinking and bad habits frequently abuse others and some of them are dangerous to themselves and others).
So is that true ? is being gay or lesbian is "psychological" ?

Most everything human is "psychological" in one way or another. I think the issue you're asking about is whether homosexuality is an inherited trait or a learned trait.

There have been studies looking at identical twins who have identical DNA. Based on the idea that, if it homosexuality is inherited, both would be gay. The study I looked at showed only about a third were both gay. In the other two thirds, only one was. The problem with that study was that it was loosely done and they had a fairly small number of participants. A larger, statistically valid study would provide a better answer.

It is an interesting subject in terms of understanding human behavior but beyond that, what difference does it make? We all get to make our choices and we live with the consequences of what we choose. If we accept each other on that basis, everything is fine. It's the control freaks in the world that want to make everybody else like they are that create the problems.

There is no question that homosexual behavior is unnatural. If it was, nature would have provided receptacles on our bodies to accommodate same sex behavior. It doesn't provide that but there are many things humans do that are unnatural. Homosexual behavior is just human behavior that is outside what we call "normal" or natural but that doesn't qualify it as a "disease." It doesn't affect the function of a person's body and it isn't catching.
