hi rob, I am using outlook express 2003, windows xp, and I have comcast internet account

comes up with an error, outlook unable to connect to your outgoing smtp email server
I would contact Comcast and verify that your server name and port number are correct for their SMTP server. Some service providers have switched the port numbers around to avoid spam emails.

ok, rob, you gave me an ider. here is what happened. I went to comcast.net and sent an email from there and it worked, so do you still think it is the same problem you described from above? if so still waiting for comcast to call me back from yesterday
I do think it's the same problem. Go through the steps at the link below. Make sure the port address for SMTP (The last step on the link) is set to 587 instead of the Outlook Express default, 110.
