What's the fastest memory-heavy laptop you can buy for your home?

My laptop's slowness is driving me insane. I do design and videomaking, and I need a lot of memory/RAM. What's the fastest laptop a person can buy for their home? And this doesn't have to be an Apple vs. Dell war. If the computers are faster in Japan, I'll fly to Japan and get one. (That's where I bought a camera.) If Germany has us beat, then that's what I'll look into. But I need to know what laptop computer is the fastest before I start pulling my hair out. I've been hunting online, but I need advice. So please help me by comparing/citing actual numbers that will let me know who's the fastest.

I don't know really know of any but the best way to find out is to look up what are some laptops that have a lot of memory and then look up reviews for them to find out how much succes people have with them.
Before you make a big jump, you might want to try to find out what's the holdup on your current machine. Video and graphics write directly to the graphics card on board memory and the problem may be due to limited memory on the card. Other time issues are the disk access time and clock speed.

I would suggest you go to a local value added computer shop and explain what you want to a technician. Take your current laptop so they can run some benchmark tests to find out where the bottleneck exists. That way you can avoid the possibility of buying something to solve the wrong problem. They can build a system designed to do exactly what you need.

I don't know Rob. I seem to have a habit of KILLING my laptops. I'm nice to them, I just USE them a lot. I've invested in a 2 TB external hard drive to make things easier on my laptop. I've had technicians come to my house on multiple occasions (it's in my deal). I also don't do a lot of miscellaneous downloads. I've been told that even if I save externally, the multiple design, audio editing, and videomaking programs I have to use take a lot for a laptop to operate. I can't get a desktop though, because I travel a lot.

Sooooo. . . I'm still hoping someone can recommend a super fast memory-heavy laptop. :)
