In addition to skyDancer's suggestions, there are lots of businesses that can be "home based" in the sense that you don't have to rent a facility and pay all of the operating costs associated with it. Most any service where labor is typically subcontracted can be started with the cost of tools and equipment needed to do the job. Jobs like maid and janitorial services, catering, flooring installation, plumbing, electrician, HVAC etc. can be done with a van and a cell phone. I'd start by making a list of the skills you have that people would be willing to pay you for doing and work from there.
