You can successfully sell your car or your house by publishing a photo of it, but that wouldn't work for a guy with a produce stand. He has to promote freshness and maybe good prices. The most important factor in choosing advertising is to clearly understand how buyers go about selecting it so your ad can be in front of them at the time they're making that choice. A billboard would be effective for McDonalds hamburgers but nobody's going to ride around town looking for a billboard when they're selecting a wedding dress for example.
