Why is a verse novel so effective?

hi, this question is for english, I have tryed to find it on the net but cant :(, and I need someones help... please, its very important, thanks

Novels in verse tell a story, have a plot and characters like prose but they leave enough to the readers imagination that the reader is said to contribute to the story by "reading between the lines." It leaves enough slack for every reader to create their own mental image. Whether or not that's "effective" would depend on what is written.
