Why is my hair excessively oily?

Even if I wash my hair before I go to bed it wakes up very messy and oily! People have always told

me to wash it everyday to keep a good hygiene of it, but some days ago I just heard that washing

your hair everyday strips it of the natural oil the scalp makes. The problem is that if I don't, my hair

gets really oily that my roots even start to look black and gross because of the oiliness. What can I

do? By the way, I've already been to a dermatologist and they said there's nothing wrong with my

sebaceous glands, I don't really know what else to do about this! :(

PS: I have dyed red hair.

Thank you in advance!

I'm not a doctor... I'm wondering if your scalp might be overproducing oil in response to the over-washing. A friend of mine had that issue. She started to alternate wet wash one day, and dry shampoo the next day. It worked for her.

washing your hair every day is not always good. It tends to become more oily. Also, do you dry your hair thoroughly? every time your hair is wet, dry it very well.
