Are people able to get rid of their profiles on this site?
No, but you can change the email to something fake or whatever and just leave

While logged in, click on 'Settings,' top right of the screen to change your profile. The reason your email will be held is to prevent people who are blocked from the site from setting up a new profile. That keeps a lot of negative stuff out of the site.
