Is it bad if there is blood under my finger nail and how do I get rid of it?

Well my nail broke today and when it broke I noticed there was blood under my nail its dry blood I think and its still there now. Is it bad?? How can I get rid of it?

When you mash a finger it can bruise under the nail. If it is severe, you may lose the nail. Like other bruises, it will eventually go away. If there is blood outside the skin, hydrogen peroxide will clean it out.

Like Rob stated, it is most likely just a bruise. I've had several bruises under my nails before. Just give it some time for it to heal it. It may not be the prettiest bruise, but it'll go away.

About 4 months ago I closed my father's truck door in on my thumb and it's been black and blue every since. The blood remain and now it's dried up. My nail is slowing growing out. I did trim away where the blood was exposed and cleaned it.
I say you will be fine. I am and it just takes time to heal.
