Is it wrong?

this guy that im not dating is like,my BEST guy friend, and every day at school, he gives me a hug in the hallways in front of everyone! not just the friendly hug, the one where im basically stuck to him like velcro and he whispers funny things in my ear. people see us and always ask if we're dating, but we're not. his friends are always telling me that he's gonna ask me out, but I dont think so...... is it wrong to play into the whole "hug thing", and then NOT agree to date him? IM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!

P.S. Im 13 and a girl

There is nothing wrong with being unwilling to participate in anything. It's your choice whether you go along with either hugs or dates. If he's your "best guy friend," talk to him when the two of you are alone. Ask him what it's all about and tell him how you feel about it. You control your personal space, not him.

He could be too shy to ask for a date or he could be just showing off for his friends. Ever heard the expression, "There's safety in numbers?" Lots of guys your age are very bold when their friends are around but scared to death of a one-on-one with a girl. If you're going along with it, you deserve an answer. Ask him.
