Do I have Maladaptive Daydreaming?

I heard about this disorder and I am almost positive I have it. I go in my bedroom, lock my door, turn on my iPod, and act out a fantasy. I usually get the ideas for the fantasy from movies, TV shows, or even real life. I do this almost every day for about 45 minutes or more. Every single thing that happens in my fantasy I act it out. I make faces, do the motions, or sometimes if there is a conversation, I pace around my room. My fantasies are usually about meeting celebrities, romance between me and my crush, or impressing people. I just can't stop doing it. Do you think I have maladaptive daydreaming? Please help, thank you:)

It would be difficult to hang a label on what you're doing from this short description but that does sound like the symptoms. Most every kind of compulsive behavior is triggered by something. Try to understand what's triggering it. The big clue is what happens immediately before you decide to go into your room? Is it something you think about, something you see or hear? The first step is to understand the trigger.

You might try channeling the energy into something useful. Have you ever considered trying to become a writer? If you can take notes or record the episodes with a video recorder it might a good idea source if you can keep the story line on the same track.
