Emerging technologies in our world

What are some emerging technologies that have the potential to improve supply chain management and potential transportation challenges? What changes in managing transportation do you see in the future because of technology? I need an answer asap, not looking for a lengthily answer or anything just an answer that answers my question good enough......please help.

If products can be made in a way that requires NO transportation, take a wild guess at what might change in transportation for that product. When people started driving cars, what happened to livery stables?

3D printing has a great potential for affecting transportation. For example, if you need a new part for your car, you download the 3D CAD drawing and make it in your 3D printer without any need to transport anything. It's like "Beam me up some ball bearings, Scotty." :-)
