Inter-religious understanding

What would you do if you were in the position of ending the more serious conflicts that exist between followers of various religions, what would suggest or do to help people understand and appreciate the differences between religious traditions. And thank you for any helpful responses that anyone can give. (~:

The conflicts come from self-righteous ideologies that teach their membership that they have a God given mandate to educate or even force the world to that belief. We don't have to appreciate or even understand what each other believe, the answer is to teach respect for the right of everyone to believe or disbelieve anything they want.
