Gee, I WISH this was all I had to do all day. :-)
I own/run a company with offices in 4 cities/3 states... and growing... moving into a new market early next quarter... contemplating another for Q2. I have a few other smaller businesses, too. I'm 34. Married with two new little people.
I'm wired to a Mac / iPad / iPhone nearly all day... because it's just a really busy time for me at work... or I'm (obsessively) researching something adoption related or how NOT to screw up my kids, or what to have planted in the spring, or shopping for a bargain on something my family needs, or looking for a recipe I want made for us. eHelp is a nice mental break to think about something else and still be "productive" and in "problem solving mode." Sometimes I'm here a lot. Sometimes I'm away for a bit. Just depends. :-)
I think and type super quickly... as a result of all that procrastination in university. I'm resourceful. And like any decent Trekkie, I seem to be an endless repository of minutia and rarely/barely useful facts. I'm over-productive.
I like answering because I like being helpful... you know, for all those altruistic reasons... and selfishly, because it helps me remember that I'm not the only person in the world with challenges and that my problems aren't any more important than anyone else's. It gives me perspective.
And it's useful for regular contemplation about things that are important to me spiritually... like reflecting on the suffering/kindness of others, generosity, compassion, serving others, lessening my ego (or at least making an attempt), developing wisdom (or at least making an attempt)...
I was reared to believe that the more you have, the more you should help others; and the less you have, the more you should help others. I donate, but I prefer direct volunteering. Since I don't have time for that these days, taking a few minutes to answer a question is the best I can do. :-)
And sometimes it's GREAT for looking like I'm working!!! Like right now... lol
I like asking because I've got a lot on my plate (we just adopted kids from a traumatic situation) and I find it really helpful to get opinions from people who aren't mired in the situations with me. Very useful.
I've been asking a lot lately... so I think I should answer as much as I can too... sort of as a cosmic thank you... pay it back / forward / sideways...
Hmmm... I wonder how much I actually answer, versus just saying, "Do what Rob said." lol
