He likes me I like him his friend says he doesn't dare to ask me out idk why?

okay so there is this guy that is new this year and I haven't even spoken to him and apparently he likes me A LOT. and he told me over chat he likes me and he asked me to the dance and he also dumped his previous girlfriend from his last school because he LIKES ME NOW I think I like him but I don't know for sure if I do, its my birthday soon, his friends told me he's getting me a present and its just pretty awkward for me,but I don't get why he doesn't have the guts to ask me out.

I agree with bobb1358. He's most likely shy and it sounds like you are too. Ask him a question; any question, like, "So, how do you like this school?" If he likes you he will try to hold on to the conversation and feel more comfortable talking to you in the future. If he is extremely shy, he may panic and not say much. If that happens, give him some time to think of all of the things he could have said and see what happens. Just remember, if he likes you, he wants to talk to you as much as you want to talk to him.
