Will my young pet ball python be okay?

My young pet ball python got himself stuck on some masking tape. I used vegatable oil on a cotton swab to unstick him, however he lost 4 little scales in the process. The tape did not stick to his eyes, but it did stick to the his lower jaw, where I had to stretch his skin a little in order to unstick him. He layed around for about 6 minutes after I (promptly) out him back in his cage, and afterwords he crawled under his rock. My questions are, will the stressful experience cause him enough pain to harm his eating habits/ ability to be peacefully handled, and could the vegatable oil ( I only used a little on a cotton swab) cause him harm.

Vegetable oil shouldn't harm him. I would leave him alone for a week or so to give him a chance to stabilize and get on a normal feeding schedule before handling him.
