Problem with macintosh hd software messaging

I am trying to repair a problem with Microsoft on my Mac.
Namely, to update software on microsoft (for the mac)
However, I am blocked by doing so due to the presence of a question to the effect that the software for the Macintosh HD is not there.
Yet, the HD is clearly there, with applications.

Thoughts and ideaS?

Microsoft and Apple use different file formats. It sounds to me like it's saying the software that converts MS format to Apple can't be found on the HD. Google "Microsoft to Mac file conversion." There's a lot of choices depending on what you're trying to do.
