My comp freezes when I play games! why

2.5ghz core 2 duo
3gb ram
geforce 9500gt graphics card
450watt power supply

There are many things that will make a computer, "freeze up." The first step is to determine whether the problem is hardware or software. If you do a cold boot, load the game and go through the exact same steps and it freezes at the same point in the program every time, that's a software problem. If it only does it on one program, that's another vote for software.

If it does it randomly on more than one program, it's most likely hardware. If it never does it until it's been running for a while, that sounds like a heat issue. Take the cover off and see if dust is clogging the fans or the heat sink on top of the microprocessor.

If you have a second monitor, try it to make sure it's not just the display that's freezing.
