Your mom had her chance to find happiness and you deserve the same opportunity.

When you are 43, he will be 64 and when you are 64, he will be 85. If that doesn't bother you, there's nothing wrong with the difference in age as long as you're talking marriage. The situation you want to avoid is investing your youth in a dating arrangement then being left with nothing when you begin showing some age and he finds another 22 year old. Making you "laugh and feel happy" is a great asset in a relationship but consider the things that may make you cry and feel sad in the future also.

Well, tell your mom that you can love whoever you want because it's your right. By the way, who is the celebrity? if you don't mind me asking.

I was in a similar situation with a retired-but-still-famous pro ball player... I would just caution that you make sure you're seeing what's really there instead of what you WANT to see. There's a big difference. In the first few months, I felt the same way you're describing. As time went on, I came to see that I was no different from his fancy car, big house, etc. I was a "thing" to him. Of course, this was my situation and not necessarily yours, but I'm guessing that this is what your mother is concerned about... Good luck.
